Ciranova Hard Floor Cleaner is a water-based cleaner for the intensive cleaning of varnished and lacquered timber floors. Ciranova describes it as removing old layers of polish, such as Hard Floor Polish and Unicare X-Matt, along with persistent stains and scuff marks.
It works as a degreaser, lifting embedded dirt and residue without damaging the wood's finish, so it is the step to use before reapplying a protective coat, where clean, sound timber helps the new coat adhere. It is a deep cleaner, not a routine weekly one.

A deep clean, not an everyday one
Hard Floor Cleaner is for a deep clean, to lift stubborn stains and scuffs, or to strip old polish before recoating. For routine weekly cleaning, use a gentler cleaner like Ciranova Hard Floor Fresh.
It is made for varnished and lacquered timber. Mix it with lukewarm water at the rate for the job, avoid leaving excess water on the timber, and test a small, hidden area first if the floor is new to you.
Why Hard Floor Cleaner
It clears the way for a fresh coat
Old polish, soap residue and ground-in grime sit on the surface and stop a new protective coat adhering evenly. Ciranova describes Hard Floor Cleaner as lifting that build-up and old polish, so the timber is clean and ready before you reapply a coat like Unicare X-Matt.
How to use
Deep clean, or strip, then rinse
- Sweep or vacuum first to lift loose grit.
- To lift stains and scuffs: dilute 1 part cleaner with 10 parts lukewarm water, clean with a mop, microfibre cloth or soft scrubbing brush, then rinse with clean water.
- To remove old polish: dilute 1 part cleaner with 5 parts lukewarm water, apply with a mop, soft brush or buffing machine, and leave a few minutes without letting it dry.
- Lift the loosened polish with a squeegee or mop, then rinse the floor with clean water.
- Avoid excess water on the timber throughout.

Do
- Use it for a deep clean, or to strip old polish before recoating.
- Match the dilution to the job: 1 to 10 to clean, 1 to 5 to strip.
- Rinse with clean water, and reapply a protective coat if you have stripped the floor.
Don't
- Use it as a routine weekly cleaner, that takes a gentler cleaner.
- Leave excess water on the timber.
- Use it on an oiled or waxed floor.
